Uber Gift Cards Fund Uber Cash — One Balance for Rides and Uber Eats
An Uber gift card redeems into Uber Cash — a prepaid balance that sits on one Uber account and is spent from inside the app rather than at a store checkout. Uber applies it automatically to the next fare or order and carries whatever is left forward. The cards are issued country by country, so the edition to buy is the one matching the country the account is registered to.
A prepaid balance is the practical answer when a foreign card keeps getting declined at the ride screen, when the account belongs to a teenager or a parent you would rather not attach a bank card to, or when a month of rides and deliveries needs a ceiling instead of an open payment method.

One Balance Feeds Two Apps, Where Both Run
Uber does not issue a separate ride card and a separate food card. A redeemed code lands in a single Uber Cash balance, and both the Uber app and the Uber Eats app draw from it — Tuesday’s airport run and Friday’s delivered dinner come out of the same credit, with the remainder rolling into whatever comes next. A card sold under either name funds that one balance.
Where the two apps both operate, that is the whole story. Three of the editions on this page are different, and it is worth knowing which before choosing one: Uber Eats does not operate in India, Egypt, or the United Arab Emirates. It withdrew from all three in 2020, with food delivery in the Emirates handed to Careem, so an Indian, Egyptian, or Emirati card funds rides and nothing else. Brazil sits in between — Uber Eats restaurant delivery ended there in 2022, while grocery, pharmacy, and convenience delivery stayed in the app.
What counts as “a ride” also shifts by market, which is the other half of the same point. In Germany the app dispatches licensed taxi and rental-car partners; in Spain and Portugal it books licensed private-hire cars in advance rather than at the curb; in Japan it hails licensed taxis. The balance pays for whichever version of Uber runs in that country, so the country on the card decides more than the currency it is denominated in.
The Country on the Account Is the Lock
Uber states the rule two ways on its own pages, and both point at the same instruction. One says a gift card “can only be used in the country where purchased.” The other says a redeemed card can only be spent in countries that accept payment in the same currency it was originally issued in. The gift card terms then scope the balance to a territory outright — in the United States edition, Uber Cash “may not be redeemed outside of the United States.”
So buy for the country the Uber account is registered to, not for where the buyer or the recipient happens to be standing when the code is entered. The account’s country is fixed when it is created and shows in the app’s account settings; the card has to line up with it. Uber runs that check at redemption, so a mismatched code fails at entry rather than sitting unnoticed on the wrong account.
The euro editions are where this gets misread. Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain all issue in euros, which makes them look interchangeable. Treat them as six separate country editions anyway — Uber scopes the balance by territory as well as by currency, so a Spanish account should get the Spanish card. Switzerland is the sharper case in the same neighbourhood: it runs on francs, so a Swiss card will not load onto a euro account at all.
What Uber Cash Will Not Do
Uber Cash is credit on an account rather than a payment card, and several limits follow from that. Uber requires a valid payment method on file at all times for a gift card balance to work — the card on file is the backup for anything the credit does not cover, not something the gift card replaces. Family profiles and scheduled rides are excluded from gift card balance as well.
The balance also travels one way. No portion of Uber Cash is transferrable to another party, and none of it is refundable, returnable, or redeemable for cash except where the law requires it. Once a code is entered it belongs to that account, which makes this the fact most worth checking twice: redeem on the account that will actually spend it.
The load value of a gift card itself does not expire, but Uber caps how much gift card credit a single account can hold and sets that ceiling country by country — Australia’s terms cap the balance at AUD 5,000, and India’s cap one card at INR 10,000. Above those lines, credit is added across several redemptions rather than in one.
Buy Uber Codes Online for the Country You Need
A retail rack stocks the local card and nothing else, which is exactly the wrong answer when the account being funded is registered somewhere else. MyGiftCardSupply gathers all 17 country editions on this page, across 12 currencies, so a sender in Toronto can buy the Japanese card and a sender in Madrid can buy the Brazilian one — matched to the account instead of to whatever the nearest shop happens to carry.
Delivery is by email, with nothing to post and nothing for a cashier to activate. The code arrives ready to enter under Account → Wallet in either app, where it becomes spendable Uber Cash on the next ride or order. Entering it takes about as long as typing it.

About Uber Gift Cards
An Uber gift card redeems into Uber Cash, a prepaid balance held on one Uber account and spent from inside the Uber and Uber Eats apps rather than at a store checkout. Uber issues the cards country by country and scopes the balance to that country, so the edition to buy is the one matching the country the account is registered to. In India, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, where Uber Eats no longer operates, that balance covers rides alone.
Every Uber country edition MyGiftCardSupply carries is gathered on this page and delivered as a digital code by email, usually within minutes. Selling genuine gift card codes has been our only business since 2012: pick the country that matches the account, check out securely, and add the code under Account → Wallet in either app.
