Spotify is one of the major music streaming platforms, so it makes a lot of sense to use it if you love music. Spotify wanted to make its deal a bit more appealing, so they chose to work with Hulu in order to provide possibly one of the best entertainment packages on the market that you can find right now. What makes this package so great is the fact that Hulu already lowered its price for the ad-supported option, which is $5.99 at this time. For around $9.99 per month you can go with the Spotify Premium option and you can also have Hulu for free.

Any user can access this feature, no matter if you are new to Spotify Premium, or not. The only restriction is that you will only be able to access this feature in the US. If you are already a Hulu subscriber and you want to use this Spotify Premium deal, then you have to unsubscribe to Hulu, wait until the subscription is over, and then set it up via Spotify in order for you to get the discount. Spotify has a $4.99 per month student plan with Hulu and Showtime. This current Spotify Premium does include Hulu, but it doesn’t include Showtime. It also restricts you from adding extras that you would normally be able to add, such as Showtime and HBO.  Unfortunately, if you have a family plan, you won’t be able to use this Spotify Premium and Hulu deal. This only works for single Spotify Premium users in the US. It’s a bit of a bummer, but we can see why this wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Spotify and Hulu. If you happen to not qualify for this Spotify deal, make sure to use your Hulu gift cards to watch movies and shows on Hulu.

How long will this last?

The Spotify Premium and Hulu deal is not going to last forever. It’s actually a limited-time offer and it will only be available until June 10 this year so if you’re looking to make the most out of it, then make sure you purchase it before then. Apparently this deal was also advertised as “while supplies last,” which is a bit strange considering that this is a fully digital deal. However, there might be a limited number of accounts which can use this, which means you may need to hurry even more to purchase this deal. Having Hulu (even the ad-supported version) free of charge makes Spotify Premium well worth it. This is a great way for people that use Spotify to use Hulu free of charge. It’s not entirely known if you’ll be able to use Hulu forever, or if it will stop working after a certain period of time. But either way, having it free of charge even for a few months is really great news!

How old are you, and where are you located?

I’m 22 years old, and I live in Alaska.

Tell us something special or unique about where you live, or why you like it.

I currently live on a small island in S.E. Alaska. The island has a beautiful ecosystem and for the most part hasn’t been destroyed. Most people who live here rely on substance hunting and fishing, which requires working with nature.

What media streaming service do you use? (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) How long have you used it?

I use a variety of streaming services: Hulu, Netflix, Crunchyroll, YouTube, etc. I’ve been using Hulu for 10-12 years, Netflix for about 2 years, and Crunchyroll for the past year. (Soon, you’ll be able to use Apple’s streaming service which is said to roll out later this year.)

Why do you choose to use your current media streaming service instead of other media streaming services that are available?

Honestly, I just look for shows and movies that I enjoy.  Some aren’t on one service, so I use others. I’m not picky.

What is your favorite show to watch on your media streaming service? Why is it your favorite?

Currently, I can’t stop watching Fairy Tail, although I watch a variety of different things. I love how the plot is written, and also how each enemy is shown to be an actual threat that could defeat the good guys.

When do you most commonly watch your media streaming service, and how often?

I usually use it after work, which is about 2-3 am. And I use it when I’m not super exhausted.

Coming Soon: Apple’s Streaming Service

Netflix and Amazon have ruled the streaming world for quite some time, but this year we will see two major players coming into the mix. Disney is set to launch its Disney+ service towards the end of this year and Apple is also preparing its own streaming service. According to Bloomberg, Apple is introducing its streaming service during an event on March 25, 2019.

We will get quite a lot of original content

Apparently Apple has already secured the right to a series named My Glory Was I Had Such Friends powered by Jennifer Garner and JJ Abrams. It’s rumored that the service will be included with the Apple TV app and we might be able to see a release date this summer. Aside from the aforementioned project, Apple is also working on other original content. On The Rocks is a project with Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola and there are other indie films set to arrive as well. There are even rumors of a sci-fi series, which is quite exciting for the platform as a whole.

Apple has a hard time finding business partners

But the interesting thing is that Apple is also said to allow the purchase of other services via its platform. Will other streaming giants appear in there? That remains to be seen. At this point, HBO isn’t close to an agreement with Apple, and Netflix and Hulu are unlikely to be included in the streaming service. Starz might be included in Apple’s platform, but other additional services are a mystery, at least for now.

But why are partners backing off from securing a deal with Apple? The primary issue, at least what a lot of people suppose at this time, is that Apple wants around 50% of their revenue once they enter their ecosystem. It’s easy to see that such a high rate will turn off a lot of potential partners. They do need to make an investment, and iTunes and their gift card system may work for music, however they are well behind everyone in the streaming and on-demand world.

Becoming a service-focused business

This might also be a clear way to see that Apple is focused a lot more on services rather than products. For many years, especially since the launch of the first iPhone, Apple has been seen as a hardware-focused company. But the expansion of the App Store and the addition of new services brought in a lot of focus on software and services.

A winning approach here is that Apple has worked together with Samsung to ensure that their new service will work on Samsung devices. Despite the fact that the two companies are clear competitors, they know that working together is extremely important if they want to handle their competition.

Apple has several streaming competitors

At this time Apple is playing catch-up in the streaming world. Roku has recently added its own premium subscription, Netflix is dominating the streaming Market, and Amazon’s Prime Video and Hulu are also super popular. If you think Hulu might be the best streaming option for you, you should know that the company recently cut the price of their basic monthly subscription. And then there’s also Disney coming into the streaming world, and they will come with their own original content and a great collection of movies and cartoons. While the road ahead might be tough for Apple’s streaming service, it’s safe to say that this will be great for customers. Having more options with perhaps lower prices and more content is something everyone wants, and now we just have to choose the right one that suits our needs.

Hulu Cuts Monthly Subscription

Right after Netflix announced its price increase of $2, Hulu announced that they are coming out with a revised pricing structure of their own. They are slashing their prices, at least for their base service. Now you get to pay $5.99 per month for their basic subscription instead of $7.99, and you receive immediate access to thousands of movies as well as about 85,000 television episodes. This is a great opportunity for people who want to be up to date with several TV series and movies, while only dealing with a few ads.

The ad-free plan price remains the same

If you want to go fully ad-free, you will still have to pay the regular $11.99 price. Thankfully Hulu Gift Cards still work to make this purchase, so you can easily get them and cover the expense that way. But if you don’t have a gift card, you have to stick to the current price, at least for the foreseeable future.

Hulu+ Live TV gets more expensive

Unlike the regular service that sees a decrease in costs, Hulu’s live TV subscription sees a substantial increase. Currently, you have to pay about $39.99 per month for live TV. Soon you will have to pay $44.99. Considering the fact that you have access to only 60 live channels, the price can seem a bit too high for people. But since the subscription includes access to shows as well, this can help compensate for the cost.

The new Hulu pricing is set to be valid starting February 26 for new subscribers. Why did these changes arrive out of nowhere?
