Redeem guide

How to Redeem a Google Play Gift Card

In the Play app or on the web — and how to clear a country error

Google adds the value to your Google Play balance, tied to your account's country. Redeem in the Play app or at play.google.com/redeem, then spend it on apps, games, movies, and subscriptions.

How to Redeem a Google Play Gift Card

To redeem a Google Play gift card, open the Google Play app and tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions → Redeem code — or go to play.google.com/redeem in a browser. Enter the code with no spaces or dashes and tap Redeem. The value is added to your Google Play balance for the country set on your account.

Where to Redeem Your Google Play Code

Google takes the same code in two places: the Google Play app on Android or the web. Both add the value to the Google Play balance on the account you are signed in to, so the choice is just which one you have open. There is no redemption screen inside an iOS app — on an iPhone or iPad, use the web flow below.

In the Google Play App (Android)

The app is the most common path, since it’s already signed in to the account you buy with on your phone or tablet.

  1. Open the Google Play app and tap your profile icon in the top-right.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Redeem code.
  3. Enter your gift card code with no spaces or dashes.
  4. Tap Redeem to add the value to your Google Play balance.

Confirm the account name at the top of the app before you redeem — the balance attaches to whichever Google account is active and can’t be moved afterward.

On the Web (play.google.com/redeem)

The web flow works from any browser, including on an iPhone, iPad, or computer where the app isn’t available for redemption.

  1. Go to play.google.com/redeem and sign in to your Google account.
  2. Check that the account shown is the one you want to receive the balance.
  3. Enter the gift card code.
  4. Select Redeem to add the value to your Google Play balance.

On a physical card the code is under the scratch-off panel; a digital card from MyGiftCardSupply arrives with the full code in the delivery email.

What You Can Buy with Google Play Balance

Once redeemed, the value becomes Google Play balance and spends like prepaid credit across Google’s stores. Use it for apps and games, in-app purchases and in-game currency, movies and TV on Google TV, books on Google Play Books, and subscriptions billed through Google Play such as YouTube Premium or Google One where eligible.

The balance does not buy hardware from the Google Store, and it isn’t credit for Google Ads, Google Cloud, or Google Workspace. It’s also not transferable between accounts and is locked to your account’s country, so treat it as Play Store credit on one Google account in one region.

  • Use it for: apps, games, in-app purchases, movies and TV, books, and eligible Google Play subscriptions.
  • Best match: an Android user who wants to pay for apps, games, and subscriptions without putting a card on file.

Why Your Google Play Code Isn’t Working

Most Google Play redemption failures come down to country, the state of the code, or a typo. Match the exact error message to the section below before contacting support.

“This code can only be used in [country]”

Google Play gift cards are issued for one country and currency, and the code only redeems on an account whose Play store country matches. You also need to be in that country at redemption. If your account’s country differs from the card’s, you can’t simply switch settings for one redemption — the practical fix is a card that matches your account’s country.

“Your Play balance can only be used in [country]”

This is a separate, after-redemption error: balance is tied to the country it was redeemed in, and Google blocks spending it elsewhere. If you redeemed in one country and later changed your Play store country, the older balance stays locked to the original region until it’s used there.

“This code has already been redeemed”

The code was entered successfully on another Google account, or on yours already, and Google won’t apply it twice. Make sure you’re signed in to the account you intended to use. If you bought the card from MyGiftCardSupply and never redeemed it, contact MyGiftCardSupply support with your order number — codes are verified before delivery and replacements are handled on the seller side.

The code is invalid or won’t enter

This is almost always a typo. Enter the code with no spaces and no dashes, and watch for look-alike characters — an “O” for a “0”, or an “I” for a “1”. Re-enter it carefully, and for a digital card, copy and paste it straight from the delivery email instead of retyping.

The card isn’t activated yet

Gift cards bought at a physical store must be activated by the cashier at purchase, and Google can’t activate them afterward. If a retail card won’t redeem, the receipt and the store are the path to fixing it. Digital codes from MyGiftCardSupply arrive ready to redeem.

Where to Buy More Google Play Credit Online

People look for another Google Play gift card when they’ve spent the first balance, need a card for the country their account is registered to, or want to pay for apps and subscriptions without a card on file. A gift card adds Google Play balance directly, which is the cleanest option when a foreign payment method is being declined at checkout.

Buy a Google Play gift card online from MyGiftCardSupply — codes are delivered by email for the country you choose, so you can redeem at play.google.com/redeem and top up your balance the same day.
