Amazon Customer of the Week – Ruan

This week, we are featuring Ruan from South Africa! We sent him some questions to learn a bit about what he loves most about Amazon, and how he’s using our Amazon cards.

How old are you, and where are you located?

I am 37 years old and I’m based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Tell us something special or unique about where you live, or why you like it?

Cape Town is a beautiful coastal city at the southern tip of Africa. We have one of the most unique mountains (Table Mountain) looking over the city, and is very popular with tourists visiting from all over the world.

What is your favorite item that you have purchased on Amazon, and why? Amazon Thumbnail Image

Tricky question, but I would say all of my Dungeons and Dragons books! If I had to choose it would be The Dungeon Master Guide. 🙂

Are you an Amazon Prime Member? If so, what services do you use the most? Music? Video? Faster Shipping?

Yes! I only currently use it for Video and it’s great!!

Why do you choose Amazon instead of local options or other websites?

Amazon just has everything and it’s priced better than our local stores! New releases usually takes a lot of time before they become available in South Africa – so it’s really great to order new products and have them before the local suppliers. 🙂

Are you using any additional services to ship your Amazon products to your country?

No

Do you have any tips or tricks to get the most value out of Amazon?

Try to focus on the thing you are looking for, and have a look at the recommended products as Amazon is really good with recommending other products based on your search etc. Try not to spend too much haha 🙂

How did you find MyGiftCardSupply, and what is your favorite things about this service?

I Googled a bit, and I just love it! I prefer to use Paypal as payment wherever I can – and this makes it so convenient for me.

What kinds of things do you like to do for fun?

I love to create! So anything filmmaking related, music related or just anything creative – Like using my 3D printer to create amazing things, and then of-course, designing games for my Dungeons & Dragons game night 🙂

Amazon Fire HD (2019) Review

We always make sure to have our Amazon cards on hand when a new tablet comes in, and honestly, this one was rumored for quite some time. The Amazon Fire HD 2019 is an interesting tablet, especially when you consider the fact that it only costs around $149. It’s way cheaper than an iPad, but does it have what it takes in order to compete with Apple tablets?

Great specs for the price

The first thing you’ll notice about the new Amazon Fire HD is that it has some pretty good specs. The processor is 2.0 Ghz, so it’s pretty powerful. The battery life was also improved to offer around 20% more screen time. On top of that, the new model comes with up to 512 GB ofAmazon thumbnail expandable storage. So now you’ll have 200 GB total for the unit, which is more than ok. Another great addition to Amazon’s new tablet is Enhanced Wi-Fi. It’s basically a second antenna that you can use in order to obtain better signal even if you’re in Landscape or Portrait mode.

Should you upgrade from the 2017 Amazon Fire HD?

It’s important to note that the new specs aren’t exactly that impressive if you already have the previous model. The Amazon Fire HD 2017 still holds up, and there just isn’t too much that’s different with the new model. You’ll also still have the main issue with most Amazon Fire HD tablets this time around too. And that’s the fact that these units just feel slow. They aren’t that great at fast browsing or multitasking. In fact, some tasks done alone take quite some time to load, let alone the length of time it takes for loading when multitasking.

Conclusion

Amazon is busy with lots of new creations currently. It’s currently spending billions to create its prime one day delivery services. But the Fire OS, which is basically a fork of Android is simply not up to par with the iOS. It’s ok for what it is, but that, combined with the specs that were just slightly improved, might mean purchasing something better would be the smarter way to go. However, if your budget for a tablet is $150 and you’re using most of Amazon’s services anyway, this one might be worth a try!

Amazon Customer of the Week – Tim

This week, we are featuring Tim from Germany! We sent him some questions to learn a bit about what he loves most about Amazon, and how he’s using our Amazon cards.

How old are you, and where are you located?

I’m 15 and from Germany 😉

Tell us something special or unique about where you live, or why you like it?

I love that nearly everything is connected via rails and/or roads! 😀 If you want to go somewhere nearby, but it’s too far away to walk, you can just hop on the next bus or train and go there! 😉

What is your favorite item that you have purchased on Amazon, and why? Amazon Thumbnail

Season 6 and 7 of Steven Universe via the US Amazon, because I don’t like the German translation that much and over here, they’re all in a messed up order 🙂 I know it sounds like I’m a bit too old for that, but trust me… Even if you are 36, you will probably still love this show! 😉

Are you an Amazon Prime Member? If so, what services do you use the most? Music? Video? Faster Shipping?

I am an Amazon Prime Member, but only in Germany (at least my sister is) and I really just use it for watching series and faster shipping. Amazon is now spending billions to create its one day delivery service.

Why do you choose Amazon instead of local options or other websites?

Simply because some Series and/or translation don’t exist here in Germany. I really like buying electronics on Amazon too, because It’s sometimes cheaper than local stores.

Are you using any additional services to ship your Amazon products to your country?

Yes a VPN. I don’t know if it’s necessary to watch series with it over Amazon, but I simply feel more safe with it. 😉

Do you have any tips or tricks to get the most value out of Amazon?

Not really ‘;)

How did you find MyGiftCardSupply, and what is your favorite things about this service?

I found it over a website called netzwelt.de. The first gift-card I bought was for Hulu 😉 The best thing about this service is that you can pay with PayPal from nearly all over the world! I tried some other gift-card sellers online before (to get the Hulu gift-card), but they would only let me pay with an American Bank Account or PayPal. The delivery is always pretty quick and I only had to wait once because they were out of stock (which nearly never happens 😉 )

What kinds of things do you like to do for fun?

Retro-Gaming and recently binge watching 😉 I also like to hang out with friends and go out or watch movies etc.

Thank you Tim for participating in MyGiftCardSupply’s AmazonCustomer of the Week!

Amazon could put its Go cashierless technology in theaters

We like the idea of stocking up on Amazon cards, and it’s also important to learn what Amazon is trying to do with their business ideas. Right now, Amazon is trying to expand their Amazon Go locations, and the interesting thing is that they want to expand their tech with other companies too.

Regal Cinemas will use Amazon Go’s tech soon

The reason why Amazon wants to do that is to provide customers with a seamless and unique purchase system. The good thing about all of this is that you can have access to the mini groceries and airport shops owned by CineWorld. Of course this might also go really well at Amazon Thumbnail Imagecinemas too. The idea of having such a business system is amazing and it has the potential to grow and expand quite a lot in the next few years. The trick with such a business idea is to make it simpler for people to do their shopping and enjoy their experience. There are 16 Go stores right now and more will be coming soon. Making this tech available to other stores will be yet another source or revenue for Amazon.

More and more third parties are interested in this technology

It’s easy to see why Amazon would be interested in this. A lot of people want a hands-off approach and that’s why it makes a lot of sense to expand and adjust the process in a way that’s really unique and different. The business world is always changing and there’s no real knowledge as of now if the Amazon logo will still be available in the third parties or not. However, the implementation of such a system for third parties might take a while. Yet it’s great to see that some companies are interested in this type of business. It’s certainly going to become more and more interesting as a company proposition in the near future. Implementing it correctly might take a little work in the short term, but with a bit of trial and error we might be able to use Amazon cards at other companies too, which would be awesome. Hopefully this technology is a success, and it will be quite the achievement for many businesses!

Amazon Prime Students can now get Amazon Music Unlimited for only $0.99

We’re all focused on getting Amazon cards as we try to find the best possible deals out there and enjoy some of what Amazon has to offer. The challenge is that for some people, Amazon services can be pretty expensive. Currently, Amazon is trying to do something about that by offering a less expensive music membership.

You need to be a student to take advantage of this

The new price of $0.99 for Amazon Music Unlimited is available only if you are on a Student Prime plan. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay the Amazon Thumbnail Imageregular price. That being said, existing customers can add on unlimited music. And new college students can actually get a trial for 6 months. Normally, it costs $7.99 for regular customers. But they’re wanting to battle Spotify, so they need any upper hand that they can get right now. And in this case, the Amazon Music Unlimited price makes a lot of sense. We aren’t sure whether they’ll give a discount for all customers in the near future, so we’ll have to wait and see.

After 6 months, the price increases

Yes, after the 6-month trial at that price, you’ll have to start paying the regular $6.49 Student price for Amazon’s Unlimited Music. You will have the $1 Amazon Music Unlimited add-on, if you want. It’s more expensive when compared to Apple Music, but you also get video and audio streaming services with this. Not to mention prime deliveries. It’s a pretty great deal, and it’s clear that Amazon is trying it’s hardest to offer the best value to their customers. Is this going to be enough for students to gravitate to Amazon Music Unlimited? The service is great, not as comprehensive as Spotify, but it does have a huge selection of content. Only time will tell whether more people will shift to Amazon Music Unlimited. But this is a good service, and making it so inexpensive for students will most likely have its benefits. Whether it will stick or not is hard to tell, but even then having such an option is always nice to have.

YouTube is Returning to Amazon’s Fire TV

It’s time to get your Amazon gift cards ready to go because YouTube is finally coming back to Amazon’s Fire TV. Lots of people have been asking for this feature for quite a while. It’s easy to see why, YouTube is extremely popular and not having it natively on Fire TV was a downside for many of its viewers.

Amazon and GoogleAmazon Thumbnail Image

The reason why Amazon’s Fire TV didn’t have YouTube, is due to a feud between Amazon and Google. It’s a feud that’s been quite problematic for a long time. What was going on was that Google didn’t want to share access to YouTube on Fire TV without getting something in return, which completely makes sense. Now they’re getting something in return. In exchange for this feature, Amazon will be adding Chromecast integration to the Prime Video mobile app. It’s the best of both worlds, all in a single package. It’s also important to note that Prime Video will be universally available on Android TV. Until now, it was available only on select devices.

YouTube on Amazon’s Echo Show

While Amazon’s Fire TV will be adding YouTube as one of their features, they won’t be adding it to their Echo Show. Who knows if this will change in the future. But it’s still nice to see that tech companies are working together and are coming up with creative ways to eliminate issues for the benefit of their customers. And for all you techies out there, there is a browser workaround that can be used as a way to access YouTube on the Echo Show. Also, for you music lovers out there, Amazon just released a free ad-supported music tier. For now, there isn’t too much other commentary from other companies around the announcement of the return of YouTube to Amazon’s Fire TV. There were obviously comments way before this was announced, which discussed how the platforms were not very compatible. But either way, customers come out with the win because having YouTube on Amazon’s Fire TV is such a great feature!
